Hi there, and welcome to my Literature site, Beautiful Old Classics.
I will try to make my introductory message brief, so that we won't have to listen to me drone on and on
about myself.
When I was in the 3rd grade, I had a teacher named Mrs. Baker, (no, I don't think we ever knew her first name,
in the 1960s, you just never learned that kind of thing from an adult in authority as a teacher), she will probably
never know, if she's even still alive, just how she changed my life forever.
You see, she gave me the gift of books. Wonderful books. She would read to us for an hour each day.
From that point on, I knew my life would never be the same. She took us to the library, she taught us how to use it.
She told us of book stores, and literature, and a thousand wonderful things that most people take for granted.
So, at the tender age of 8 years, I begin to read. And read. And read. My parents were beginning to worry about my
health, being such a bookworm. Instead of someone they had to harrass into reading books, and doing homework, I was
just the opposite. They had to make me go outside a lot of the time.
Oh, through the years since, especially in my adult life, I have tried this and that. But books have always been, and probably
always will be my Very First Love.
Often I would think how wonderful it would be to work in a Library, or own a Book Store. Those things took money,
that even up to the present day, I just never had the money to do.
Then this fantastic thing called the Internet came along. It didn't dawn on me until just recently, how I might pursue that
dream. That old, old dream, of owning a bookstore.
Now, I'm happy to say, with the realization of my dream, I can pass these old classic books of great literature on to you.
The books' copyrights have expired, and exist in the public domain, for anyone to enjoy for free.
For my part, I simply took the texts themselves, and converted them into a more readable, and aesthetic form.
I have tried to make all of the pages on my site pretty. They aren't too hard on the eyes. You can spend literally
days and weeks reading them.
I wish for you to enjoy the great literature contained within these pages. It has been my pleasure to be able to provide them for your entertainment.
To keep me at my desk doing this, I have provided some links to my sponsors on each page. These sponsors aren't just places where you go buy something. Should you click on one of their links, the sponsors which you may see here, will pay you either in cash, CDs, other products. But mostly they will pay you cash.
Every now and then, when you have enjoyed yourself here for awhile, and you might be feeling just a little bit thankful that a site like mine exists, click on the links and join. You will make cash, and I will make cash. There's no risk involved, and you just might find yourself richly rewarded for participating in some of the programs offered.
You know what? You could run your viewbars while here, and actually GET PAID to read books. How about that?
Again, I love to read, just like you. If my library isn't quite big enough for your tastes yet, please bear with me, I am adding new books very, very frequently.
For now, why don't you click on the library link at the top or bottom of the page to see what's available?
There is no greater gift for the Mind and Spirit than a great classic work of literature.
Any questions or comments you may care to leave me, please click the Email links displayed prominently on each page.
Happy Reading To You!
